Free legal assistance to the citizens for the realization of their right to free access

On the 29th and 30th of September, 2007, the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM) in cooperation with the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA), organized the second advanced training for the lawyers that will be providing free legal assistance to the citizens for the realization of their right to free access to public information.

On the 29th and 30th of September, 2007, the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM) in cooperation with the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA), organized the second advanced training for the lawyers that will be providing free legal assistance to the citizens for the realization of their right to free access to public information. The 16 lawyers - members of the MYLA, provide assistance to the citizens (information seekers) in preparing appeals to the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, and represent the citizens in the court of law, in cases when they are denied access to the desired information. The component for free legal assistance is financed by FOSIM and the Swedish Helsinki Committee.

Aside from the lawyers, who were elaborating the issues from the Law on administrative disputes and the Law on general administrative procedure with the domestic lecturers - Mr. Borche Davitkovski, PhD, Faculty of Law, and Mrs Ana Pavlovska – Daneva, PhD, Faculty of Law; foreign experts on free access to information also had their presentations at the meeting - Helen Darbishire, Access Info Europe (Spain) and Milena Deletic, MANS (Montenegro).
